Nebraska Rural Family Practice Preceptorship Rated Best
UNMC medical students do their FP rotation in rural Nebraska, away from the
medical center as far as possible. The results are in and once more the rural preceptors have taken top
teaching honors, as evaluated by the students. This means that the preceptorship
can lay claim to the best clinical rotation, since it has claimed top honors in
both the 3rd and 4th year.
Since the 1940's, the family practice rotation has been in final year of medical
school. The rotation was moved to the M-3 year for more impact on medical
student decisions. Despite some major changes in the experience of the students
and the additional burden of an M-1 rotation for all students in the summer, Nebraska's rural preceptors
have come through with flying colors. Thanks to the preceptors, their
communities, and the Nebraska Academy of FP. Also thanks to Paul Paulman
